Study Tour in Kwa Zulu-Natal, South Africa from 20 November to 1 December 2006

The programme was most informative and provided a rare opportunitiy for a wide spectrum of participants to build up networks, learn (and share) best practices in our mutual efforts to attract and build foreign & domestic investments in our respective countries.
The South African host's hospitality was indeed exceptional, and I know that with their atttitude of continuous excellence their work output can only grow from strength to strength and build value.
I will keep in touch the various programme presenters' and I believe that as a small economy (Swaziland) bordering the huge manufacturing and consumer economy in South Africa, we can find synergies of working together and for us attracting some investments from South Africa to Swaziland.

John W. Creamer Acting General Manager, Swaziland Investment Promotion Authority (SIPA).

"I studied the long-term strategy and mission of the Malaysian Industrial Development Authority (MIDA), its organizational structure and co-ordination mechanisms among departments as well as with the Government. I also had the opportunity to gain some insight into the financing of the agency and various programmes undertaken by MIDA. Finally, I obtained a good overview of MIDA's information systems, its website and the use of new technologies in investment promotion."

Mr. Binod Prasad Acharya, Section Officer of the Industrial Promotion Division in the Nepalese Ministry of Industry, spent two weeks at MIDA (Malaysia) under the WAIPA Study Tour programme in December 1999.

"WAIPA's study tour programme is surely a good idea. It leads to appreciation of how other IPAs conduct investment promotion activities effectively. However, I believe that the number of traineeships allocated each year should be increased in order to give the opportunity to a higher number of young IPA staff to be exposed to best practices in investment promotion."

Mr. Charles Omusana, Investment Executive in the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA), spent two weeks at JAMPRO (Jamaica) under the WAIPA Study Tour programme in December 1999.
